KindaNappy 1st month of loc journey completed!

I am a 22 year old mother and full time college student. 5 and a half months into my transition to natural hair I did an unplanned bc. I am on here to learn how to care for my hair better and hopefully inspire someone else to take this journey.
I have not mastered any kind of system, im still experimenting with products.

I came to the conclusion that my HAIR TYPE IS 4a/ 4b. I have these curly spots here and there but for the most part my new growth is crinkly instead of curly (if that makes sense) with a cottony feel to it. The weather is finally warming up so im doing wash and goes now.

I noticed that my hair had been very dry since using the ORGANIX shampoo and conditioner so I bought me some BIOINFUSION OLIVE OIL condioniong shampoo and leave in conditioner to see how my hair likes it. It worked okay but now im experimenting with baking soda and acv. I made a spritz concoction that contains water, olive oil, vegetable glycerin, peppermint and rosemary oil and it is the business! Its very refreshing and helps with my moisture issues.

****UPDATE: I hadn't been able to find any pure shea butter in town so and i FINALLY got a hold of some whle i was in ATL .. im not crazy about it but it works well with ic fantasia gel.

****LATEST: Lately locs have been grabbing my attention and I am inspired to start my journey to locdom... I don't want to jump into anything so for now I will just stalk people with beautiful locs and set a date... My last relaxer was September 6, 2008, therefore this September I think I will go for it!

****July 2009****
This month marks 6 months that I have been natural, it went by so fast! I haven't even thought about straighting my hair. I am really into locs now but I just don't think I'm ready for the committment. I have been wearing coil outs on the regular but I had a bad experience after letting them stay in too long (my hair almost loced up). When I do decide to loc I don't think I'll have any problem because after 2 weeks of coils my hair does not budge. I currently have a frohawk but plan to get yarn wraps soon.
As far as products I am using Giovanni shampoo and conditioner, shea butter, ic fantasia aloe vera gel and I have created a wonderful spritz (water, glycerin, lavener oil and peppermint oil) that keeps my hair moist and soft... I oil my scalp with Wild Growth® Light Oil Moisturizer (made of castor oil, flax seed oil, carrot oil complex, pumpkin seed oil, grape seed oil, safflower oil, roman chamomile oil, black seed oil, evening primrose oil, vitamin e and proprietary Wild Growth® Essential Oil complex). I am still wanting color, I have my eye on Creme of Nature's Ragin Red.. but I'm afraid of damage.

**** SEPTEMBER 2009***
I have an appointment to color my hair and start my locs with comb coils.. I'm so excited! I will take before and after pics and start a loc journey album next. YAY!

OFFICIALLY STARTED MY LOCS W/ 2STRANDS ON SEPT.8, 2009

My hairstylist did them small (not too small) she used clear gel mixed with a moisturizing cream by DesignEssentials and its like I have nothing in my hair. Its been a week and a half and I haven't had any problems with unraveling. I have started to think my hair stinks but my hairstylist was kind enough to give me some antiseptic hair solution in a spray bottle (it works pretty well). She doesn't want me to wash my hair at all, and in 3 more weeks I go to see her for a wash and re-twist.
