- Lala’s Story
It's funny when I sit back and think about how I'm so careful now to maintain my waist length hair. I even have a regimen that I follow diligently. It was never a priority for me previously. I’ve had waist length hair before, but whenever it would get long, I always allowed people (even my relatives) to dictate what my hair length should be. When I think back to those days, I’m not sure why everyone was so concerned, and I why I let them manipulate me.
Every stylist that I ever visited always cut my hair. My hair was usually cut every two weeks. I mentioned it to my Mom one day, and she said that the stylist was making her job easier by not having to deal with a massive amount of hair. The last time that my hair was waist length was in 1989. Even then I gave in the next year and allowed my hair to be cut to shoulder length. Deep down inside, I knew if I wanted waist length hair again...that I could simply let it grow.
Joining LHCF has liberated me, and has made me say "no" to people who want to cut my hair, or say “so what” to people who tell me that my hair is too long. I’ve decided to allow the hair that God blessed me with to grow to whatever length I choose. I will have waist length hair until I decide that it’s time to go shorter…
