Well, how should I begin?

Ever since I was in HS, I've had this fascination with natural hair. You see, when I was 10 yrs old, my mom sent me to my aunts house for the weekend and I came home with a perm! My mom was livid!!! I've always had soft fine hair as a child and my mom believed my aunt ruined my hair by perming it.

Anyhow, summer 2000 was when I made a decision to stop perming my hair. I went 2 years with wearing kinky twists before I decided to do my big chop in 2003. From that point on, I alternated between afro puffs, two strand twists, braiding my hair, braids with extensions, flat twists, press and curl; you name it, I tried it. Throughout all of this, I've always wrestled with the idea of locing my hair. I've tossed it up in the air so many times and always said to myself that I would never keep up with it. I would want to comb my hair. What if I don't like it? Yadda yadda yadda.

So, that leads me to August 3, 2008. I've decided to take that next step and loc my hair. I have faith that I will keep up with it and enjoy my hair as I have enjoyed being natural thus far. Please feel free to offer words of encouragement as I take this journey.
