As the title says I am latina, Dominican to be exact. Born in DR but raised in New York.

As a latina, I'm expected to just naturally have long beautiful hair without any effort, atleast that's how the media portrays us. Unfortunately it is not that easy, for me atleast. Growing up all my friends had had perms since they were like 4 and I was pressured into being just like them. Thus it was just the natural step for me to take especially since it would take me one step closer to being like Gloria Trevis. So I permed my hair in the sixth grade. Most of my hair ended up breaking off because I did not know how to take care of it.

One summer I was doing a lot of self analysis and I realized I should not want to be or try to be anyone else but myself and so there went my hair. I did a BC in June 2006. I was all about embracing myself and loving who I truly am because I can be beautiful without all the chemicals!

Now I haven't had a perm since November 2005. I have been braiding my hair. My hair is about armpit length now. My ultimate goal is bra strap. So I'm trying my best to take care of myself and my hair.

I am still looking to learn new ways to care for my hair. I want to know different hair styles, different products, or just that I am not alone!
