Transitioned for almost two years---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey everyone. I have finally made it through the transition phase. Instead of doing a big chop, I transitioned for two years. I have never had really short hair so this is why I chose this route. At the beginning it was very difficult because I didnt know what i was doing, but once I got some help, it was pretty easy. The way I transitioned was once a month I would get my hair wash and pressed. Sometimes I would get flat twists and bun.updos for protective styles. I go to a natural hair stylist who specializes in natural hair care.

About every two months I would get a trim to gradually get rid of the relaxed ends. Eventually I felt experimental, and I got some layers and bang to get more of the relaxed strands out.

Now it is almost year two. Most of my relaxer is gone. Only in my longest layer do I have about an inch of relaxer. Regardless, the hard part is over and I have made it through.

I have just now started to learn my new natural hair. My goal now is to attain thicker and healthier natural mane. I am cutting back on the heat since I now have one texture. For 2011, I will straighten every 2months instead of once a month. Or even longer...Right now I am trying to figure out what products and techniques work best for me. I loove BIG hair. I think my staple style is going to be chunky twists and twists out. This is inspired by a fellow fotki memeber - ManeChick. Her hair is gorgeous. But I still have a long way to go.
