I am here to exchange natural hair ideas. I love being natural and the freedom I get from wearing my hair natural is great. My hair is also the healthiest it's been in years. I had to retrain myself to think positive about my hair after being told by my mother for years of how nappy and unmanagable my hair is.
I have learned to not only mange it well but to also LOVE my hair and know that I am still beautiful while showcasing my god-given napps.
Hair-type:
Very tightly-coiled hair
Products:
I don't use a lot of products as I have found that using unrefined sheabutter is the best moisturizer ever. I purchase it on the African product selling vending stands in Harlem, New York for about $5 per container. I melt it in the microwave each morning (as it solidfies shortly after) to liquify it and apply it to my strands each morning. I also use clear IC gel when styling to help hold style and have a smoother look.
Styling steps:
1. Wash
2. Apply melted unrefined sheabutter on DAMP hair to soften it
3. Comb it out to untangle using a wide tooth comb while DAMP
4. Stretch hair by blowing out(lowheat)w/ a hand dryer on DAMP hair
5. Style (Afro-puff, two-strands twists using IC gel on tips, back pin-up/top twist-out)
