GOALS FOR 2011: My goal is to continue growing, taking care of my ends and not trimming my hair until the end of 2011. My goal is to be touching hip length by the end of the year. Next year I will be in maintenance mode and will probably get a 1 inch trim.

For those of you transitioning... doing the "big chop" might be a little scary. I know that the fear of having short hair is what stopped me from having natural hair.. but lemme tell ya it is the most liberating feeling in the whole world. Whoever doesn't like my nappy hair can basically kiss my ass LOL I play with my curls all day, I love the feeling and texture of my hair. Its funny because I thought I would miss my old hair and I don't. After 9 months of transitioning I felt very bitter about my relaxed ends. I felt like it was in my way and not really my hair. So to me it felt natural to cut it off, it was like cutting off a piece of my life that just didn't suit me anymore. Like if I was wearing a wig. Plus I was afraid that it would hinder my progress. Now my natural hair is growing like a weed LOL and I haven't looked back since. I look forward to having long hair again, but this time on MY terms.

My WINTER hair regimen:
1. I co-wash once a week. If I use shampoo (1x a month) to clarify, I'll use Come Clean by Kinky Curly.
2. Normally I use Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose. I sometimes use Dominican deep conditioners like Diez en Uno, La Bomba, Crece Pelo, or something with Sabila (aloe vera)
3. I dye my hair with Tints of Nature, which I buy at Whole Foods or the Vitamin Shoppe. I stopped using commercial dye because its too harsh for my hair.
4. I use Aphogee protein treatments on my hair when I feel I need it.
5. I rollerset my hair once a week, use a bonnet hair dryer to dry my hair, then flat iron on a low setting. I always use a hair serum before applying any heat. I don't blow dry or use a curling iron.
6. When I give my hair a rest from rollersetting and heat, I leave it in a ponytail and use natural Aloe Vera gel, EcoStyler Gel, or Tresemme mousse.
7. I love Tresemme Naturals to co-wash or as a regular conditioner. I will use a deep conditioner first then follow up with a leave-in conditioner.
8. I'm also using Amla Powder to help grow my hair, protect it, and make it strong.
9. I'm all about natural products now. If I can't eat it I don't want it in my hair LOL Here are some of my favorite natural recipes: http://styles101.homestead.com/nathairrec.html#anchor_35822 I am always experimenting with natural products. Right now I'm loving Aloe Vera Gel on my hair instead of regular gel. I use Henna and plant based hair dyes from Whole Foods to color my hair. If I need a deep oil treatment I use the products that are already in my kitchen - extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, and honey.
10. I love avocado butter! Its great for my skin, hair and lips. I also love shea butter, mango butter (altho its gritty) and sweet almond butter. I will either buy it unrefined or from Afroveda.
UPDATE: I hardly buy products anymore. My PJ days are pretty much over. I'm a Hair Junkie and I can't stop
