My daughter and I started our Hair Journey in June 2008. Our need for the better care of our hair came from an un-wanted perm given to my daughter. Unaware of how to properly care for permed hair, I began to research and found a wealth of information online and in several Hair Communities.

My hair has always been natural and long. I was once a regular seasonal cutter. Why, because I knew it would grow right back. I never really obsessed over my hair (still don't) and was not a regular at the hair salon. My signature style is my most favored BUN. I used to have my hair styled and cut at the Dominican Salons, so I am familiar with heat, and blowouts. On my own, I used to do roller sets for special events. More than anything, I am simply hair lazy! I own one hair appliance, that being a hood dryer. It is in the box and has never been used. No curling irons, flat irons. blow dryers, etc... I do not use any heat at all. I air dry only. I am interested in a steamer, but I am afraid, or better yet, sure it will also end up in a corner, if it even made it out of the packaging.

My daughter who is now 6, very soon to be 7, desires long hair like her mom. Her natural hair is very soft and curly. So soft, it does not hold braids. The perm made that worse. She loved the perm even though she was clueless about any of it, so why, the length of course. Now almost 2 years later, she still has two textures, healthy hair, no damage or breakage. Initially I was trying to decide when to cut off the straight relaxed ends, but so far I have not. Like her mom, she has major SHRINKAGE! She hates it! She wants to show her length. Well, we are going to keep up with our regimen for now.


Our Regimen

We wash every two weeks during the Winter months. We wash weekly during the other months. During the Summer, however, we wash more frequently. Sunday's are our scheduled wash days. During the hotter months, we add Wednesday as our additional wash day. I tried co-washing but could not see the benefits, so I stopped.

Basically, wash day consists of Wash, Condition and DC, followed by moisturizing, styling, and left to air dry. Check our products folder to see who uses what, when and how.

We moisturize daily and whole head baggy at night. It's that simple.

I am trying to do better by this fotki and will attempt to update more regularly.
