- Hey Fotki Fam! First of all I just wanna say how much I love, love, love the sistas on this site. You are so encouraging and kind. This site is full of so much information that it ain't even funny. I love how we are all so complementary of one another and open to share stories, your journeys. I thank God for all of you. K, enough mushy stuff... :)
My last relaxer was October 2008. I had actually attempted to go natural about 4 years back, but transitioned for 14 weeks, then chickened out as I was sitting in the chair. I was scared of how I would look with it so, had my stylist put another relaxer in it. I regretted it and every 8 weeks or so when it was time to get a relaxer, I would cringe at the smell of it. I knew I would do it sooner or later, as it stayed on my heart. My bookcase is ridiculous. Has always been filled with hair care books, essential oil books, again ANYTHING that has to do with hair/scalp care. I have always been so fascinated by it. I have a scalp condition called Seborrhea Dermatitis. This was one of the MAIN reasons I wanted to go natural, which was to see if I could get the condition under control - and I have. Thank God! It still exists, but nothing like it was when I was relaxed. I thank God that he provided me with the courage and the confidence to go natural. He is so good. I swear he is. Now that I'm here, I'm NEVER going back. It's been such a wonderful journey and I'm thankful that I can share it with all of you as well as ride your journey too.
