 | Started really in December 2005 trying to understand my hair and if I could indeed grow it. I have been disciplined in keeping my scalp clean and hair nourished. It has not been an easy battle. I have been natural since the 90's and I could never achieve serious growth. When I finally bought a clue about mositure and heat for the hair that is when things started to change. There are countless people to thank because I visited their fotki and also some of the hair care sites that have been designed to help women of color grow and maintain healthy hair.
I feel like this is a well...sort of a ministry. We need to each one teach one and show the world that nappy hair can be not only maintained, but healthy, long and beautiful. If I can help one person stay or begin their journey then not only was this worth it it was a good fight to fight.
I have had up days and down days and days when I just wanted to throw in the towel and say forget it! But anything worth having is going to cause you some pain, drama and trama! LOL In short, the fight will be a good fight if others have been inspired, learned something or decided that today is the day I too shall allow my hair to be in its natural state and care for it as it is.
I don't consider myself a natural hair extremist but have decided that whatever God has given me then I will accept it for what it is because God made it so. My new motto is "God gave me this hair because He knew I could handle it"! So ladies how many of you feel the same way?
