N3Y- Ok I want to loc up! Help!!!!!!!

I want a drastic change for the New Year......really drastic. I think I wanna loc my hair. This isnt a new thought, however I have thrown the idea aroubd a lot. I think I'm ready. I hardly ever wear my hair I've been rockin twists most of my 3 yrs & people are always saying I would look good with locs. No I'm not doing it bc of wut others say or think, I just need a change, a new me. My 2 new changes will be locing my hair & dropping down to a size 11. So please any suggestions, comments, concerns or encouragement I'd love to hear them!

Ok so I have "stalked" so many fotki sites that its rediculous & I realized that there are so many beautiful thick/full head nappies out there & I love looking at everyones styles. However, I would always get a bit discouraged & frustrated only to realized that me & that person may or may not have similar textures but my hair still wont do what her hair will & that's because I have fine hair. My hair has grown a lot in 3 yrs & I've learned what my hair will & wont do, but I also realized that We thin/fine haired Nappies are a minority. I would love to find more people with fine hair besides Me, Jazitone & Faithworks. I'm sure there are more out there, but I do not believe I have found them. I'm thinking about starting my own blog for all of the fine/thin haired nappies out here in the world. B/C as much as I enjoy looking at all these nappies here on fotki & other sites with thick lusious hair.....that most likely will never be my reality & so I would like some realistic inspiration & realistically inspire other nappies like me! Ok I'm done I just wanted to put that out there..................SO LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!!!

What I wanna try at some point in time in the near future:
BANANA BUTTER

• 7oz Shea butter (Unrefined, straight from Africa)

• 4oz Aloe Vera Gelly (Clear, Fruit of the Earth brand from Target-I used this because it already has preservatives in it)

• 3oz Coconut Oil (this gives it a solid pomade texture)

• 2oz oil of your choice (I'm sure any oil will do but I used Banana flavored oil = Canola oil + banana flavoring)

•OPTIONAL: Drops of your fave EOs if you don’t use a strong flavor oil

First, I melted the Shea butter in a glass bowl set in boiling water. While that was melting I softened the coconut oil in the mic (not all the way to liquid) then I mixed it in a glass bowl with the Aloe gel and Banana oil with a wire wisk. When the Shea was fully melted I poured it in the Aloe/oil mix and broke out the cake mixer. I beat it on medium speed for about two minutes. Then I poured it into an empty plastic container that has an air tight lid. It didn’t solidify overnight so I put it in the fridge for a coupla hours then set it out to get to room temp.

This stuff mixed perftectly into a soft pomadey type butter (it looks sorta like dark yellow butter) and it has a delicious banana scent! It seems like it should be greasy at first touch, but it's actually very light, probably because I didn’t use much heavy oils-It literally melts right into my skin and hair. UPD:****I tried & I love it!*****
