I big chopped after a fifteen month transition on Thanksgiving Day 2006. I colored my hair a rich brown during my second year, and I spent the next two years trimming it away. The color made my hair feel weird, and I wasn't retaining moisture or length, very well.

Then, in January 2011 I became gravely ill. I lost a lot of weight, could not absorb nutrients from foods, and was hospitalized several times. My hair began to fall out in clumps, shed profusely, refuse to stay moisturized... it was a mess! I have two conditions: Fibromyalgia and a digestive disorder. Now I'm being monitored to be sure that I am not developing Multiple Sclerosis.

I decided to actively grow my hair out again in June 2011 to combat the physical ramifications of my health problems. I have very fine, medium-density, 4a hair.

My staple styles are twists and braid outs. I rarely use heat on my hair; in December 2011 I flat ironed it for the first time in over 6 years.

Regimen:
Pre-poo with a warm oil. Wash and deep condition under steamer once a week or every two weeks, depending on style. [Alternate using shampoo and conditioner for washing; alternate protein conditioner and moisturizing conditioner for steaming.] Air dry and style. Moisturize and seal as needed during the week, concentrating on the ends of hair. Massage scalp with sulfur oil or pomade 3-4x a week. Trim every 3-4 months using the lunar cycle provided at Luna Tips-Heavenly Hair Care.
