*My natural hair texture is very tightly coiled, kinky, fine strands, wiry but soft, and densely compacted with about 80% shrinkage. As a little girl, my mother always blowdried, pressed, and curled my hair. Back in 1994 or 1995 when I was age 10 or 11, my mother put a relaxer in my hair for the first time. It grew past armpit-length in high school. After that, I would get hair cuts for no reason. I decided to transition to natural hair from 10/7/2004 - 4/30/2005 because I was simply tired of relaxers and curious about my natural hair texture. I had no problems with growing hair. I could not take the transitioning process any longer, so I did the Big Chop on 5/1/2005 and was left with 3 to 4 inches of natural hair. Due to a heat damage incident, I had to do a second Big Chop on 5/13/2005 which left me with less than 1/2 an inch of natural hair. When I trim my hair, I dust the ends of individual hair strands. I plan on having natural hair for life!
*~HAIR REGIMEN~*
Shampoo, condition, and blowdry my hair every 2 to 4 weeks, then style however I want it! Twists, Twistout, Braidout, Cornrolls, Bun, Afro, Afro Puff, or Flat-ironed Straight. Sometimes, I will go without blowdrying my hair and still do a variety of styles with my natural hair.
