I got tired of relaxers damaging my hair and hindering it's growth potential. I was always getting it cut because of damage. Relaxers thin your hair out over time and I didn't want that.I was tired of wasting my time in a packed hair salon and wasting so much money a month. I'm looking forward to the natural journey where I learn to appreciate what God gave me naturally. The me He made me to be. The natural me. What ever we put on our bodies (including our scalp) is absorbed and gets into our blood stream.At first I didn't know that.I am more aware of harsh chemicals and ingredients that have cancer causing agents. I now and prefer to use natural and non toxic products. I don't look down on those with relaxers at all I like straight hair and if they are not convicted about getting relaxers and perms then fine.I truly wish relaxers were not chemical base because it's a wonderful thing. Let them do what they gotta do, and I'll do what I gotta do.I just hope people start to realize that it's better to gain respect by your character rather than by your hair.I hope not to look back no matter how much ignorance I face from people who have no clue and no knowledge of the facts.I have a tendency to worry about what people say.Im working on that :)You don't have to have relaxed hair to be beautiful. People are trained to think this way and think it's the only acceptable way to wear your hair.I wanted a relaxer when I was young because I thought if I didnt people would laugh at me.I wish I'd had seen some of the natural beauties I see today.I saw natural hair back in day as wild and unruly but it doesn't have to be. I want to please God and I want to look good for myself and my husband. Natural does not equal unattractive. People act as if God commanded black women to get relaxers LOL!. Yeah we should represent and look our best of course. Being natural doesn't mean going around looking unkept; No NO No. There are very nice ways to style natural hair. If it is acceptable for women of other races to wear their hair naturally straight or silky curly then why is it not acceptable sometimes to wear our naturally God given hair? That's seems a bit strange to me.Character is the most important thing by far. IT's true beauty.So being a little nervous although content I start my journey.
