Henceforth and forever more February 16 is my personal Independence Day. Independence from Saturday's wasted changing my identity and hiding from myself. Independence from the spiritual shackels that were imprisoning the real me.

One year ago on that day, I stepped out on faith and did a new thing. I reclaimed my power, I believed. Believed in who God said that I am. Embraced the soul knowledge that I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

A year later I still believe, and I have no regrets.

Being my authentic self has taught me to be gentle with others and myself. If nothing more its taught me a sense of patience that I never thought I could attain.

I look forward to what I'll learn this year, and I hope to share it with all of you.

Thank you to all my nappy fotki friends for the love and the encouragement that you give so freely. Have a blessed and prosperous 2008.
