*MY STORY*
i have had natural hair all of my life... but spent most of the time hiding it via flat ironing or extensions. because of this, my hair was always dry, short and damaged.
on november 28, 2006, i cut all my hair off and decided to just start over. i wanted to learn how to work with my hair instead of against it.

ladies, you won't find many interesting style ideas on my fotki page (but you can find them at my blog http://blackgirllonghair.blogspot.com) The main objective of my fotki page is to chart the growth of my hair. i'm sorry if that is boring, but it's what i need right now.
also, i didn't share many details on fotki, but my hair went through 2 traumatic periods. one in january and one in april. during these times, i lost a lot of length because i was rough with my hair while it was brittle and dry. those were extremely difficult times, because i had been making really good growth progress. those times taught me the IMPORTANCE of moisture! And since then, my hair care habits have improved exponentially!!! my hairline is coming back in, and my hair continues to get thicker.
lengthwise, things have been stagnant for a while. for the past 3 months, i have been between 5 and 8 inches. this has been very tough for me emotionally, because growing my hair out has always been a main objective. however, i am learning to be grateful for what i have, and to measure 'progress' in terms other than length. i have had to tell myself that the key to hair growth is HOW YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR. i am laying down the foundation of that, and i just have to patient and know that the growth will come over the years.
