- I haven't had a perm since Feb. 2006. I decided that relaxers were not for me anymore on a visit to Chicago. I had been thinking about for years but I wasn't aware of how to go natural or what I would look like or what I would be able to do with natural hair. The natural scene in Chicago was very cool. I saw numerous women who wore their napps proudly!! I was really inspired. When I returned home I still got relaxers 2 more times. But then I started to research natural hair and decided to wear my hair the way God made it!! I transitioned until June 10, 2006 and went and got all the permed ends off. I was going to transition longer but my hair is very thick and I couldn't handle it. So I got it cut. I didn't like it at first. But it grew back fast. And yes, I got a lot of strange looks but now I get a lot of compliments. Everyone is always telling me how soft my hair is. I love wearing my hair naturally!!!!
