I'm married going on 9 years with three children. I work for an oil refinery in the operations dept. I have recently decided to go natural with my hair. My last perm was March 9. I'm researching ways in which I can transition from my relaxed hair to natural without doing the bc. My hair is a fine texture probably 3C but mostly 4A (this is just a guess for now). My reasons for transitioning are due to the way may hair looks when relaxed( which is very thin). My last experience with color broke my hair more than usual. This and the fact that I was tired of my hair looking stringy and sad everytime I put a drop of oil on it prompted me to want to make a change. I am enjoying my journey thus far and getting more and more excited about learning my natural hair texture.

I just recently modified my albums to better track my Natural Hair progress.

Update: I Big Chopped April 22, 2010 after a 13 mth transition. I did it myself and I got it on video. Check under my videos to check it out. I was so ready to do it and I'm glad I did.

My hair type is 4A/3C. I think I have a patch of 4B also. I just know it is super duper coily with curls that range from straightish wave(3B), pencil sized and pen spring sized. It's all up in here. LOL But I love it all. Still working on a set reggie.

Shampoo every other week to remove buildup.
Cowash 1 to 2X a week and DC once a week.
Protein treatment every two weeks or as needed.
Henna as needed according to greys showing.
More importantly though, I listen to my hair. If it feels dirty or too oily, I'll shampoo. If I know I have sweated a lot, I'll cowash. If my strands feel weak or I see more shedding/breakage than usual, I'll do protein. My goal is to keep it simple. That's pretty much it. I'll work on a products album in time.
