- Hello and welcome to my "home" on the www. My avatar is named Fadya, a woman whose hair I can only aspire to. I'll never have that volume without a weave, but her length and general look are my goal.
Here's the net-net about my hair -- my totally natural, UNRELAXED 4A HAIR LOOKS WAY BETTER today -- no relaxer -- than it did in 2000 when my hair was texlaxed to a curly 3b/3c and I was hotfoiled a dark blonde. I have better more defined texture,more shine, less frizz, more curls and healthier hair.
2008-2009 Update:
Okay, I've been totally natural since 10/21/06 -- so why isn't my hair longer? It's certainly growing, just check my gray roots in any recent shots. I'm transitioning to gray. So retaining length at the ends must be the culprint. My new goals:
- retain length
- transition to gray
- Keep hair and body healthy.
I will be protectng my ends more, and my hair is already sucking up moisture. I am using more moisture-retaining products -- more conditioner left-in, more butters, more! And when I wash my hair it is with non-stripping products like Chagrin Valley soaps, or just plain conditoner (Suave Coconut, John Masters, Robert Craig).

Hair Chronology:
1980's - Relaxed
1980's - BC to a TWA; wore curly fro or braid extensions
1984 - Began to texlax, my version of "the natural look"
1993 - Went blonde with highlights
2000 - Began transition to darker one-process color
2003- Began getting Ouidad cut & products
2005 - Switched to Curlisto
8/05 - Last texlax, began my transition to natural
6/06 - Began a modified Curly Girl routine (no more Curlisto)
7/06 - Started buying CG hair products
10/06 - All natural - Last of texlax trimmed off and new name - Suburbanbushbabe
2/07 - Began using Robert Craig color (permanent, no ammonia/peroxide)
3./07 - Had dry 2nd day hair for the first time
6/07 - Began a 1 year growth challenge.
5/08 - Began to transition to gray
5/09 - I/m pretty gray and white now!
