- First of all I would like to thank all of the ladies who's albums I have stalked to get thus far...
I have been natural for just over a year and I am getting better at tending for my hair. I have found that some products work better than others.
The most significant thing I have learnt is that my hair is fragile and not tough like I had previously thought and that I really need to think about what I do to my hair if I want it to retain length. A lot of common practices for ladies in different hair type groups are a no no for me as my hair could not handle the manipulation.
I know now that if I want to retain length, protective styling is a better option. That said, I have retired cornrows and the jury is still out on weaves. Any variation of twists is generally kinder to my hair.

My 6 month goal - December 2009 I would like to see 8-9 inches.
I am now confident that I dont need a relaxer to maintain my hair in a style that I am comfortable wearing.
Long term goal for me December 08/May 09: Shoulder length hair (healthy all round length) - partially attained - front is still a cause for concern.
Long term for Nik, 8-9 inches.
