Sxytia -Spring 2012 Natural Updates!

Big Chopped!!!! September 17, 2010 after 7 months of transitioning!!! Current regimen is made up of mostly braid out styles and just staying moisturized!

July 2010 -TRANSITION TO NATURAL UPDATE

I've wanted to all my life. This year (2010) I turned 25 and vowed to do everything I've ever wanted. I went skydiving...took a big leap in another area, I finished my first year of law school....and i decided to transition. My last relaxer was a bit after my cut on February 11, 2010. I'm currently 6.5 months post relaxer and going strong!

The transition is definitely mental. Thats probably why I've failed in the past. It helps tremendously that the new guy in my life has forbidden me to relax my hair ever again since he knows how big of a deal the natural journey is for me. He's very supportive which helps me on a daily basis. I'm also transitioning with my soror and she's helping me a great deal! Great to have accountability partners!

JANUARY 2010-UPDATE and new regimen!!

I CUT IT!!! LOL! Yeah, I wanted something new for the year so after all that growing, i went under the knife! lol!

Anyway....while i grow it back...the new regimen is going to be plain and simple:

-NO DIRECT HEAT AS USUAL
-Trims AS NEEDED
-Wash and Condition WEEKLY (using silicon mix as a conditioner)
-Rollerset WEEKLY
-Wrap NIGHTLY
-Relaxers EVERY 8-10 WEEKS
*preceded by and followed by protein treatment prior and following wash
-Prenatal Vitamin-DAILY!

I'm on a mission for healthy hair! This means not only length-but thickness! I SELDOM use direct heat and it has turned my fine textured hair around!

Wash Regimen (every 2-3 days) see product list below for staples:
prepoo for about an hour with whatever oils i have around (under a hot towel and shower cap if i feel like it)
cowash w/ each wash or use clarifying shampoo once a month
deep condition (under bonnet dryer)
add leave-in and headband
airdry (add moisturizer concentrating on ends when hair is half dry)

Nightly Moisturizing Regimen:
moisturize with Scurl, BB w/castor and Aloe or H2O/Aloe Vera Juice mix
Seal with coconut oil and/or Mizani H20 Rose
Put in a pony tail roll with roller
Baggy on top of rolled ponytail
Boundless tresses, surge or aloe vera gel on edges
Satin Scarf on and bun in morning

Retaining Length:
Only comb hair when dry
Bun daily
TEXTURIZERS (as of 10/09)
Clarify as needed
protein treatment as needed
No trims for a year - 2009

Breakage Regimen (Use this when experiencing breakage)
Prepoo with oils
Clarify
Deep condition for protein (with egg and cheapie condish)
Deep condition for moisture
Add Mizani H20 Nighttime Treatment twice a week until breakage has reversed

Product Staples:
Moisturizers/Baggy: Scurl BB w/aloe and castor or H20/Aloe Vera Juice mix
Sealant: Coconut oil
Prepoo: Vatika Oil
Shampoo: CON (red) and Baking Soda (when clarifying)
Cowash: Suave Coconut
Conditioner: Olive Oil Conditioner (light protein), UBH homemade mix (moderate protein using Mane and Tail, EVOO and peppermint oil) Aubreys Organics Honeysuckle Rose (moisture)
Leave –In: Lacio Lacio (for rollersets) or Paul Mitchell-The Conditioner
Edges and scalp nourishment-Boundless Tresses

Optional/As Needed:
Protein treatement: ApHogee 2-step or Egg/Cheapie Condish mix
Color: Colorshowers Black
Henna: Cassia Obovata (neutral) or Karishma Herbal Henna (slight color deposit)
Breakage Treatment (as needed) Mizani H20 Intensive Nightime Treatment
