***HAIR REGIMEN****

Yes Its a myth that blackwoman can't grow hair.
Our hair is the most fragile and just takes more time & patience.
We just have to find what works for our hair. Products, regimens etc

My hair is near waistlength. The longest its ever been.
The shortest is a halle berry pixie cut with shaved back.
I've never worn wigs or weaves, yet I find nothing wrong with others wearing them for protective styles.
I believe the key to my growth is Low Manipulation. Just leaving it alone.

I am one of those women who ENJOY my hair. I wear it out every single day. No protective styling whatsoever. I use heat occasionally.

My hair is Relaxed.
I usually have it relaxed Bone Straight!!
Leaving relaxer on longer then usual and more smoothing.
I stretch my relaxers for 6 months at a time and will be trying a 1 year stretch for 2008.
I use Optimum-No lye and have the stylist deep condition with Nexxus Keraphix. I use that every time I get a touchup.
I trim once a year.
HairType 4a/b Thick
I hardly ever comb my hair. I only comb hair on WASH days.
I wash hair every 12-14 days.
I wear my hair in a braidout 50% of the time.
I wear it blow dried/flat ironed 30% of the time
wash, bantu knot & airdry 20% of time

I go by 3 diffrent regimens depending on my style.
They are all simple and basically the same except for the style
-BRAIDOUT REGIMEN
-STRAIGHT HAIR REGIMEN
-POST RELAXER REGIMEN
PRODUCTS I CAN"T LIVE W/O-NTM Silk Touch, Jojoba Oil, RUSK Smoother Leave in, John Frieda Frizz ease serum

**STRAIGHT HAIR REGIMEN**
I wash hair using any clarifying shampoo.
I condition with NTM Daily Deep Conditioner.
Sometimes I mix Jojoba oil with NTM DDC by putting oil on ends and roots and sitting under dryer for 25 mins.
Hair is like butter afterwards or sometimes I sleep overnight with foil cap and conditioner.
I Rinse hair in shower, part hair in style I want and comb hair straight while under running water, squeeze excess moisture, but I don't towel dry.
I get out and use John Frieda Frizz Ease xtra strength serum on my wet hair,concentrating on my ends and roots ..love it.
I then apply my leave in conditioners-
--Rusk Sensories Smoother leave in, then I apply
--Lacio Lacio leave in.
I blow dry w/ comb attached ionic dryer in sections.
If I want it ultra straight, sometimes I'll go over with flat iron..MaxiGlide
Once its dry and straight, I rub in NTM Silk Touch Leave in and put satin scarf on with hair hanging straight out down back,I then put a satin bonnet on back of that hanging hair . Wake up and go every single day using this method. No combing, just rubbing some NTM silk touch thru it and NTM serum on the ends.
For Wavy, I put in NTM silk touch in dry hair and 6 bantu knots. Tie with scarf for a half hour or so.Take out and go.

**BRAIDOUT REGIMEN**
I wash hair w/ moisturizing shampoo.
I condition with NTM Daily Deep Conditioner. Rinse with a coconut smelling conditioner just for the smell. Comb thru hair with conditioner in it under running water. I apply my leave in-RUSK SMOOTHER all through hair massage thru. I comb thru with wide tooth comb. Then I section and part hair. 6 braids all the way around head. Take fine tooth comb and go thru each section braiding and adding jojoba oil & ntm frizz free. Tie satin scarf with braids hanging down. Dry like that. Take out braids rubbing serum thru it and go. Maintain everyday like this only having to rebraid the ends only once or twice.

**POST RELAXER REGIMEN**
The KEYS to Stretching-
MOISTURE-NURTURING- PATIENCE-LOW MAINTENANCE-LEAVING THAT NEW GROWTH ALONE
I DO NOT mess with my new growth during stretching.
I barely touch my hair during stretching. This is when its the most fragile.
The less maintenance the better on my hair.
LOW MAINTENACE, NO MANIPULATION, some people can't deal with that. I just leave it alone.
My roots don't have to be combed straight, just as long as they look flat and smooth.
During my stretches I make sure my new growth is wet or heavily moisturiized then immediately apply satin scarf on it and allow it tod ry like that. It will be flat and smooth. Depending on your leave in-silky smooth. Its definately a technique that I had to learn.
People are not understanding how it can be so smooth and flat even though my hair is thick with 4a-b type.
After 30 years I finally learned how to tame my hair..lol. and basically trained it. My stretches have become easy. Now I will challenge myslef and go for 1 year.
During my stretches i take a lot longer in the shower just detangling. To detangle I load it up with a lot of conditioner and allow it to sit for awhil then take 1 little bitty section at a time under running water with lots of conditioner and comb thru gently. Each piece. U have to have a lot of patience. This part right here will get you thru to the nex wash.
