Hello Family!

I'm beginning my second journey into nappturality. My first BC occurred in 2001 but it didn't last long. Growing up in Houston my support system was next to nothing. The comments were harsh in the land of Beyonce and the weaves to your butt. Additionally, I didn't have knowledge to maintain my 'do with the proper products and turned to texturizers because I thought that still classified my hair as ‘natural’. However, I'm now at an age when other's opinions don't matter much and I have to do what's best for me. Wearing braids provides so much freedom and I know that embracing my healthy natural hair will only cause me to embrace my overall health on a deeper level. I look forward to making many new friends along the journey.

Update: March 25, 2008: It's been a great year! I said I would trainsition for one year and today is the great reveal. Over the past year I've stepped up my workout routine, started to eat better and I'm down 15 pounds with a head full of healthy hair. A huge THANK YOU to all the sistas on Fotki for the endless inspiration.
