On June 5, 2013 my missing photos have begun to appear. No new blog from Fotki yet, but I expect we will hear something soon.
As of 5/2/2013 many files(30%) are missing from my DB. First response said the problems (an upgrade is in progress) may be fixed by today sometime (1/6/2013). A blog response was promised, but has not appeared yet. Seems very typical for Fotki operations these days. 5/2/2013 - files still missing! Finally an explanation.
Why some of my photos are not being displayed- 1/15/13 - note it could be another month(now 4 1/2 months). My pics are moving to SMUGMUG. It will take time, but I am re-creating my entire database on SMUGMUG. No new pics will be loaded to Fotki.
Note: Sixteen weeks later nothing has happened. Do not plan on recovering your files. Look elsewhere for service.
Welcome to Wayne's World of digital photography. I acquired a Canon 10D 6.3 MP digital camera in 2003 which was great. As a backup and more portable camera I now (2005) use a Panasonic FZ20 and Pentax K7D has become my primary tool. The 12x zoom is great and the Pana 20 takes very good pics. Now that I have a Sunpak 383 flash for my Pana FZ20 it will be used even more. The Pentax K-5 & K-7 now supercede all of these with great skin tones, SR and weather proofing.(10 MP-16 MP) . As of Feb 2013 all new photos will be collected on SMUGMUG since Fotki no longer allows unlimited storage. This collection will remain since I'm paid up through 2022, but I cannot add hi-resolution files to it. Files are being transferred to SMUGMUG, but it will be a lengthy process. I expect Fotki to fade away in the near future anyway.

I seldom use my Sony CD1000 with that beautiful 10x zoom lens and CDR storage. It suits my style fine, but more resolution is nice as well as more buffer space to reduce the time between pics. I have shot around 6,000 pics with this camera since Sept, 2000.
All may go on my vacations and allow lots of family shots of my grandchildren and events like weddings. The HV1000 flash does a great job. I use Photoshop 7.0 and ACDSee 7.0 to process pics on my 3.6 GHz PC. It is generic and has plenty of Raid-5 storage(3 Terabytes) and 4GB memory.
I recently added a 1.6GH laptop to take along on vacations and even short visits for uploading and showing slideshows (MemoriesonTV). With a wireless network card it integrates nicely with my desktops. Just added a Minolta XT pocket digital so I never have to miss any photographic opportunities.
Photography has never been so much fun! Digital photography is fun and the progress from my Epson 750 in 1998 to 2011 has been ubelievable. My film SLR's are no longer in use.(Epson 850Z,Sony CD1000, Minolta D7i, Canon 10D, Panasonic FZ20 & Minolta XT, and now a Pentax K10D,K-7 and K5))
Since 2001 there have been over 20,000 photos added to this collection. My film and slide collections are only minimally represented with a few scans. Maybe there will be another attempt at scanning in the future.
Please help me sort some of these albums . I'm trying to put them in approximate chronological order. Add a comment or send an email to help if you can.
