- Hello my name is Chris Smith and I am from Cape Girardeau, Missouri. I am the owner/operator of Smith's Photography. I have been doing photography as a business since 1998. I started doing digital photography in 2002. I am currently using a Canon D60 but look forward to getting a Canon 5D soon. I currently do freelance work for the Southeast Missourian Newspaper and Southeast Missouri State University's sports teams. I am also the photographer for the local building called the Show Me Center at the university that has concerts and other special events. I have shot weddings, portraits, sports events, car racing, fund raising events, private parties, and a lot of local news events. Below are a few examples of things I have done:
2003 Girls Babe Ruth National Softball Tournament. At this event I shot digital photos, did on site printing, and used my internet site to sell the photos. You can click here to view those photos.
In 2003 I was the track photographer at the Auto Tire and Parts Race Park in Benton, Missouri. I took digital photos each week and provided a catalog for the drivers and fans to look through to purchase photos. With the help of a friend Matt I was able to provide on site printing each week too. You can view my work at the track by clicking here.
In 2004 I did a fund raising event for the university baseball team. They invited a former player Kerry Robinson who is now a professional baseball player to come back and make photos with his fans. I did this with digital and was able to do on site printing. This allowed all the pictures to be delivered to the fans before the close of the event that day.
In my spare time I shoot sports events, nature/wildlife, and night photography. I love to travel and I have pictures from places all over the world.
